Dear students,

As it is essential that we work together toward the objective of doing well for the O levels, I would like to tell you what we are going to do and why we are doing it.

So far, the majority have not finished their syllabus but we will not discuss that here. We will discuss what need to be done after the syllabus is completed.

Round 1 Topical Revision

The topical revision is meant to used together with the Core Question Checklist to verify that you understand all the concepts and sequences to be able to answer standard stock questions quickly and effective. As there isn't a need for me to be with you, you will do this as homework while we use the tuition time to work on your E Maths and to clarify any issues with the topical revision you may encounter. This phase must be completed before June.

Exams and Checking Skills

Here I will demonstrate what should be going on inside your head instead of thinking of what you will be having for dinner... when practising a paper. To practise a paper with objectives in mind rather than doing for the sake of doing... you will benefit much more and save a lot of time which you can use for your other subject. There is a need for 2 full day sessions from 1pm to 9pm as part of the time will be used for demonstration follow by putting into practise what you have learnt. This should be completed in June.

Paper Practise

The objectives at this point in time is to learn how to recognise the standard questions in a paper setting. You are to practise until you have a >90% success rate at answering such question. Another objective is to get familar enough so that you can finish the paper in 50% of the time and use the remaining 50% to check effective so that you will have no more than 10 marks worth (out of 180marks) of careless mistakes. A secondary objective to learn to deal with killer questions effectively so as to remain calm and minimise your losses.

The final 2 weeks revisions

This is to ensure that you do not LOOK at questions instead of DOING them. The purpose of doing is not to improve. The purpose is to make sure everything which you might have forgetten while nelgecting mathematics in the previous week come back to you again and that your exams and checking skills are at your peak.
