We are not practicing GCE O level A Maths papers for the sake of practicing.
It is meant to ensure you have all the necessary skills required to die die also get an A2 at worst.
You should do the papers in this order.
Phase 1 - 2002/2003/2000 PapersÂ
Phase 1 is for warming up. For you to learn to recognise the GCE O level A Maths core questions and to do them 1st. For you to practice how to check your solutions.
Concurrently, you should be doing some of the secondary questions from the 1980-1996 GCE O level A Maths questions available in the AM1980-2000 printout. This is preparation for phase 2. Deadline: 1st 2 weeks of June holidays.
Phase 2 - 1997/1998/2004 Papers
This is for you to train your speed to hit the agreed timing. It is also to ensure that you are capable of reacting correctly ( skip the right parts and salvage the right parts etc). The focus here is on improving on secondary questions and polish your examination skills. Deadline: Mid July
Phase 3 - A pause to trouble weaknesses.
Phase 4- 1999/2005/2006 Papers
To put in practice whatever we agreed upon in Phase 3. Deadline: Before your prelims. Prelims MINIMUM of B3 regardless of how tough it is. A2 minimum if it is average.
Phase 5 -Â 2000/2007/REDO SEAB Specimen Papers + 3 selected 2008 Prelims papers
Maintanance Phase between your prelims and O levels
Lessons here from Phase 1 onward will be 45mins going thru papers, 15mins Geometric Properties and 60mins E Maths Troubleshooting. Once E Maths Topical troubleshooting is done... E Maths will move to the same approach as A Maths.
Please remember A and E Maths are 2 subjects so they deserve the time and effort to be put into 2 subjects. On average, I am expecting 5hrs of paper practise on your own and 2hrs tuition time. Total of 7hrs of effort.
Students who started in Sec 4 will follow their customised schedule...*
Phase 1. Sort out core questions. (June latest)
Phase 2. Min 2 sets of papers for exams techniques and checking proficiency. (July latest)
Phase 3. Fast run through on secondary questions more likely to occur.(July latest)
Phase 4. Min 2 sets of papers before prelims. Prelims target of B3.(Before Prelims)
Phase 5. 2 set of actual GCE O levels papers+ Specimen papers+ 2 set of schools prelims papers+ (Before O levels)
*Probably I will have to skim on Geometric Proof as your timing is tight. E Maths won't be ignored.
