To be honest, I am rather upset with the results. As usual, the norm is an A2. Meaning an average student having lessons with me should stand a very decent chance of an A2. Distinction rate of 76.9% is practically the same as 2008's 75%.

Problem is, there are too few A1s and the fact that there are two B4s means that the performance I am pushing for is falling on the low side of an A2. In general, most of the students are getting a grade below what I expected of them as can be seen by comparing the predicted results against the actual results. If they are getting a grade below what I feel they are capable of given their aptitude and attitude, then my performance is below par. Thus, this year's result is a disappointment.

2010 Target for students

As a rough guage, my estimate is that you need to score at least 160 marks (out of 180 marks) for an A1, 150 marks for A2, 140 marks for B3. The problem is finding a proper balance between effort and desired performance.

2010 Target for me

My goal is to ensure that no student perform below their potential. Overall, we will be looking for a 80% distinction rate. With almost equal numbers of A1s and A2s. And no B4s.

Actions to be taken. Scope of practice to be narrowed to match current trend (Patterns not tested for >10yrs will only be shown and done once). Topical revision to start earlier and split up (same number of questions but less per revision) to improve recall. Topical mindmap diagrams to be drawn. Presentation to be monitored right from the start of topical revision. Revision work to be filed for reference.
