Overall, the results are exactly as I knew it would be before it was released. I know my students well. See my post (2nd one) a few days before the release of results on this forum thread.
OK the 2008 O level results has been released and the estimated scores required for A1/A2 in Additional Mathematics are 87/82%. As such, the 2008 target of >80% for A2 was too low. As such, the standard minimum target score is now 85%. Aim for 90% if you want an A1.
My agreed target with 2008 students for Additional Mathematics. I always treat my students as young adults and thus the target score is negotiable within limits.
Formula used (% x44)+ (%x56)
Name /Agreed Target /Estimated % Score /(Loss in Paper 1/Loss in Paper 2) /Actual Grade
Amanda S /Targeted 80% /Estimated 81% (80.55) /(lost 15/20marks) /B3
Daryl /Targeted 85% /Estimated 85% (84.39) /(lost 7/21 marks) /A2
Faith /Targeted 80% /Estimated 85% (84.38) /(lost 6/22 marks) /A2
Jerome /Targeted 85% /Estimated 93% (92.3) /(lost 14/0 marks) /A1
Vanessa /Targeted 85% /Estimated 93% (92.26) /(lost 10/4 marks) /A1
The estimated scores were arrived at by providing my solutions to them and asking them to assume that anything they are not sure is 100% correct to be wrong. So actual scores should be extremely close to their own estimates. Faith told me her results and I called Daryl. He had not received his yet but I told him it would be an A2 and sure enough it was.
